Instantanious vs Continuous variables, or Why are some advanced output variables very different orders of magnitude?
Note that some of these Advanced Output variables are instantaneous whereas some are continuous. For example, interception by vegetation is an instantaneous variable, reset at each timestep and only representing the water engaged in that process at each individual timestep; storage on vegetation is a continuous variable, tracking fluxes over multiple timesteps and not reset at each timestep. Continuous is not the same as cumulative, because continuous variables such as storage on vegetation can both increase and decrease based on other processes timestep to timestep.
