Haz. Tree eval /Data collection for Dept. of Transportation

Post by DTackley »

On February 8, I attended a training session in Buffalo NY regarding hazard trees. They mentioned and presented info regarding I-Tree, I went to your Website and was wondering if you have a program and literature that would assist us in developing an inventory and Data collection process for multiple highways and state roadways. What we need might be a bit different than what an urban forester or a parks manager might use. Do utility companies have any type of program? We have very similar issues with extensive miles of narrow ROW that encompass many different corridor settings and neighborhoods, including Limited Access highways to residential communities and rural roads.

I am wondering about a tool that will allow us to inventory hazard trees as
they become identified and then collect this info into a data base that will
allow us to track these trees and their status until they are either removed
or their condition improves.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The only component of the i-Tree Software Suite that could be used for your purposes would be MCTI, a basic tree inventory application. Please consult our description of this application on the web at

If you need a program with operations-based tree management utility, you will probably want to consider a commercial package.

As a general resource about this question, you might profit from reading through this guide for community risk assessment:

Good luck.
