Questions on PreData sheet in excel

Post by urban forestry planner »

On this excel sheet called PreData, here are my questions:

1. For "length," do you want feet or miles? BTW, we are using feet for "ROW."
2. What is "MultiSegment"? Am I right in assuming it requires a yes or no?
3. If a column like "Start" is N/A, do we just leave it blank?

Thanks.

Thanks for the good questions!

1) Length should be in feet
2) MultiSegment (Y/N) is not used in the calculations. It allows the user to record when an entire road segment has not been used in order to avoid having a single very long segment (>1150 ft) dominate the sample plots. See the original protocol for details and examples.
3) Again, this field is not part of the calculations. It allows the user to record the beginning and end of a plot that otherwise would be difficult to relocate for some reason.

We'll try to clarify this in the next edition of the Manual
