How does i-Tree Canopy estimate monetary values in the UK?

Post by alessio.landscape » Tue Jun 15, 2021 4:12 am

I'm writing a paper on i-Tree Canopy V7.1 with benefits within the UK, i.e., some specific areas, and I was wondering if you could confirm that i-Tree Canopy V7.1 estimates air pollution removal rates and monetary values for a unit tree cover based on i-Tree Eco projects in the UK. Also, (last thing) could someone let me know how i-Tree Canopy estimates monetary values (in the UK)?
Thanks, Alessio

Hi Alessio,
The i-Tree Canopy adaptations for the UK and Sweden estimate the ecosystem service rates using i-Tree Eco batch runs. The i-Tree Eco runs are performed in the same way they are in the States, using local pollution and weather data. You can find a preliminary description of the metadata used in those model runs here, https://www.itreetools.org/documents/6 ... Canopy.pdf.
The monetary values for the ecosystem services were provided by Treeconomics and are summarized in this document, https://www.itreetools.org/documents/73 ... nal_1.xlsx.
Thanks,
Jason
