Common Names for Tree Species

Post by njgibson » Thu Oct 15, 2009 5:19 pm

Could the common names for trees be listed in a last name first style, i.e. Maple, Red; Maple, Sugar; Oak, Swamp; Oak, Pine, etc. It is very difficult when using a PDA to find the correct type tree.

Yes, I agree with you. It is often hard to search for species by common names. I sometimes find it easier to toggle to the scientific name as they would all be listed under Acer or Quercus.

I will pass your suggestion along to the development team to consider what would be involved in making these changes in the future. Thanks again for the suggestion. Al
