What Eco climate regions for US, Canada and Australia?

Post by Jason.Henning » Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:10 am

The climate regions are used in Eco to calculate energy benefits of trees in proximity to buildings. In the US individual counties are assigned to climate regions. However, since specific data related to these benefits was not collected for Australia or Canada, the benefits for those countries are calculated by matching Australian Councils or Canadian Provinces with similar climate regions in the US. The attached Excel file has three separate worksheets indicating how each US, Canadian, and Australian political unit were assigned to US Climate Regions.

For additional information on methodology used to calculate these tree benefits in Eco you can view this US Forest Service document (http://www.fs.fed.us/psw/publications/d ... tr-171.pdf), page 32 contains a map of the climate regions. This document's reference data can be found here (http://www.treesearch.fs.fed.us/pubs/6779).
