using gis and lidar data
do you know methods to estimate variables like "total tree heigth", "crown width" or "CLE" using a GIS and aerial LIDAR data ?

Re: using gis and lidar data
Thanks for the question. The only work that I have seen to estimate i-Tree measurements from LIDAR data has been from Laurie Stott at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, https://www.esf.edu/itree/documents/Sto ... ee_000.pdf.
I think there is lots of work on extracting individual trees, estimating tree height, and isolating individual crowns but I've never seen anything about CLE. If you are looking for more general resources a Google Scholar search for "lidar for tree measurements" will turn up a lot of resources, https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=e ... ents&btnG=.
Unfortunately, given the data availability and processing challenges associated with lidar data there are no plans to directly integrate lidar data into the i-Tree Eco tool. The creation of any necessary tree measurements would need to be done by the user.
Thanks,
Jason
