Accuracy of i-Tree Eco

Post by TimN » Mon Mar 25, 2019 4:19 am

Hello,

I am doing a research on how relevant it is for cities to use i-Tree Eco. The research exists of the core question 'What is the difference in accuracy when i-Tree Eco calculates with limited parameters (DBH, species, condition) versus with an expanded parameterset (DBH, species, condition, total treeheight, crownvolume, crown light exposure and GPS-coördinates)'. Before i can make a statement out of this i need to know how i-Tree Eco calculates the value of the limited parameterset and the expanded parameterset.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,
A good place to start is with this document which describes the default values and calculated values used when only partial data is supplied, http://www.itreetools.org/resources/man ... ations.pdf. Understanding the larger methodology of i-Tree Eco is much more involved and you can begin your research in our archives, https://www.itreetools.org/resources/archives.php. There are many summaries and publications there that describe how i-Tree uses tree measurements to estimate benefits and values.
Thanks for your question.
