Hey,
I doing some field work on graveyards, in one city where I have areas from 2,1 to 30 hectare, now im struggling with the amount of plots I have to apply to the different area size.
So far i was putting 1 plot per hectare but now im struggling as this is subjective, but makes sense to reflect the per hectare situation. But does anybody has recomodations in Literature or Manual to make sense out of this situation ?
greetings
helly

Re: Plots amount
Hi Helly,
The size of the area being sampled isn't as important as the variability among plots. If you are measuring a highly variable population like an entire city's forest we typically recommend 200 or more plots. For natural forests that are pretty homogeneous you may only need 30 or so plots. We have an article here, http://www.itreetools.org/eco/resources ... 20size.pdf that is the basis of the 200 plots in a city recommendation. We also have a forum post here that may help you determine the appropriate number of plots for your project, viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1210.
Thanks,
Jason
