how to apply i-Tree eco to private homestead windbreak

Post by bixia » Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:12 am

Dear all,

We are based in Okinawa precture, Japan.
We have been measuring about 25,000 homestead windbreaks in more than 20 villages. The village, which were rural regions, started to plant Garcinia subelliptica trees as windbreaks to protect their houses. Now, we can still see some remnant huge trees. I have collected data of tree DBH and tree height. I just found that the database has Garcinia subelliptica. However, the database only inlcude tokyo and towns of tokyo.
I am wondering it is good to use i-Tree eco to analyze the monetory value of homestead trees?
How can add our location data to the database.
I tried to run a village data, and I can see the total amount of carbon storage price, ect. I have imagine that I can produce a database based on individual tree level.
My research purpose is to inform the local government and household owners regarding their trees' value and hope that valuation will help to raise people's conservation awareness.

Thank you and looking forward to discussing with researchers in this field.

Hello,
It is reasonable to assess homestead or residential trees using i-Tree Eco. In order to add your location into i-Tree Eco you will need to submit available data through the i-Tree Database portal (https://database.itreetools.org/#/splash). You can provide information only about your location or you can provide additional hourly weather and pollution data if you would like to receive benefit information about avoided runoff and air pollution removal. Once you submit your data through the i-Tree Database portal your location will be added to i-Tree Eco within 1 to 2 months.
The following videos may help you when working with i-Tree Database.
1. Creating a new international location - 6min - Creating a new international city location to be integrated into i-Tree Eco, https://www.itreetools.org/media/watch. ... kVaAx5hdqW
2. Submitting 1-hour precipitation data - 4min - Submitting hourly precipitation data using Database's submission form and template, https://www.itreetools.org/media/watch. ... kVaAx5hdqW
3. Submitting 1-hour pollution data - 5min - Submit hourly pollutant data for a new city location using Database's template and online submission, https://www.itreetools.org/media/watch. ... kVaAx5hdqW
Thank you for your interest in i-Tree.
