Doubt

Post by luis199205 » Sat Feb 06, 2021 3:51 pm

Greetings, I am Luis Alejandro Acosta and I want to carry out a study of the ecosystem services provided by the urban trees of a university. This project is personal, so its realization is only personal responsibility. However, I have the problem that I tree does not have climatic variables or atmospheric pollution for the Dominican Republic. And I don't know if it is correct to use climate information from another country? For example, I have decided to use information from the closest country such as Puerto Rico, a country that has a climate similar to the DR.

Hello Luis,

There are two options for using i-Tree Eco in a location that is not available. One is choosing a location that has a similar climate. It is also important that the location have similar air pollution. If you choose to do this then I suggest that you are completely transparent in your choose when you are reporting results.

A better option is to use the i-Tree Database tool, https://database.itreetools.org/#/splash, to add location information and precipitation and pollution data for the location you will be doing your project in.

You may also want to read the information at this webpage if you have not already, https://www.itreetools.org/support/reso ... ernational.

Kind Regards, Erika
