i'm brand new to this toolset - there are a bunch of trees that have to be brought down in charlottesville - emerald ash borer related. i wanted to know if anyone had thoughts on calculating the potential carbon sequestration numbers for making boards out the wood vs mulching? i'm sure there are a lot of variables and unknowns with this kind of calculus, but it'd be really helpful to get a ballpark estimate to get the conversation going
thanks for any ideas

These calculations aren't included in the i-Tree tools but there is some life-cycle analysis out there that might be relevant. You could start with this paper, https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q ... H4QWSNOQLR. Some of the works cited in there and some of the works citing that paper, which can be found with Google Scholar, might also be relevant.

You may also want to reach out to your state urban and community forestry coordinator. UCF Coordinators are a good starting place to find out what other cities in VA or elsewhere may be doing regarding wood utlization and EAB impacts.
Arbor Day has a page with all state coordinators
https://www.arborday.org/states/state.cfm?state=va
If that is not current, you can also go to the VA Forestry site and check their links for resources. Many states have local foresters who provide technical assistance to landowners and may be able to help you evaluate local options.
