This is more an academic question rather than directly an i-tree, however it is related. I am doing a compilation of i-tree reports in different cities for my workshop and found something hard to believe, here is the table I have been constructing:
CIUDAD arboles de arboles Valor USM Benef Anual
London, UK 14.00 8,421,000 $61,880 $165.80
Austin, TX 30.80 33,800,000 $16,000 $38.20
Philadelphia, US 20.00 2,918,000 $1,750 $9.56
Plano, TX 16.40 1,690,000 $1,625 $5.30
Milwaukee, WI 21.60 3,377,000 $1,439 $3.80
El Paso, TX 5.10 1,281,000 $1,020 $3.00
the thing is that the Compensatory Value for AUSTIN, TX is way of the chart, compared to other cities. Is this correct?
Thanks
Compensatory Value

Hi Horacio,
Can you post links to a few of those reports, including Austin? I'd be curious to look at their methods a little before making a guess about the differences.

Re: Compensatory Value
I downloaded all of the reports from the https://www.itreetools.org/resources/reports.php
the Ausitn Report is https://www.itreetools.org/resources/re ... report.pdf
and also there you can get the london, plano and the rest. Also for my workshop where is a reference for the price of C that is used in the i-Tree. I have not found a definite journal article mentioning where the 146.6 $/t price comes from.
Gracias

Re: Compensatory Value
The Austin numbers are high mostly duethe very high number of trees in that city. The high number of trees results from the large foot print of the city (the largest on that list) and the fact that the city's boundary includes about 30% closed canopy natural forest by area. This leads to a much higher number of trees and a much higher density of trees in Austin than anywhere else in that list. On a per tree basis the compensatory value for Austin is comparable to the other cities in the list it is just that Austin has a lot more trees.
As for the carbon value number please see the update in this forum thread, https://forums.itreetools.org/viewtopic ... rbon#p2195.
Thanks,
Jason
