What is the Storm Damage Assessment Protocol?
The Storm Damage Assessment Protocol is a simple-to-use, yet highly flexible i-Tree Utility. It can be used to rapidly calculate and report tree damage and debris from storms, as well as estimate the associated costs. It combines three critical functions in a single package: a sampling method, a cal...

Can Streets provide information on future benefits?
Streets does not currently predict the future value of urban forests. However, if you created a mock inventory of your trees, including species and estimated diameter-at-breast-height (DBH) after 40 years, you could estimate future benefits in today's dollars.

Can Streets data be input into ArcMap?
Streets is not GIS-based or designed to be integrated with a GIS system. Streets does allow for GPS coordinates to be collected for individual trees if you are using a compatible GPS data collection device or manually enter coordinates. Therefore, i-Tree records could be exported out and brought int...

Can I use another climate zone for a Streets analysis?
Benefit calculations are based on regionally specific tree growth measurements, hourly climate and air pollution concentration data, and building construction information. Because these factors can vary a great deal from region-to-region, users obtain more reliable results when using data from the c...

What is the turnaround time for Eco results?
Eco processing is now automated in the U.S. and most of Australia and Canada. Therefore, i-Tree v5.x, users can expect Eco results back in 2 hours, depending on the server workload. International Eco project turn-around time may take considerably longer depending on data integrity issues and model/d...

Can I manually create the 3 files for the PDA Utility?
Yes you can. Three files are needed by the UFORE Shell in order to be able to load the plots coordinates into the PDA. Notes 1) if there are no coordinates to import, the plot numbers can be simply entered through the Shell during new project setup. 2) the Manual asks for .doc files, but the UFORE S...

How can Eco be used in environmental strategies?
Results from Eco projects can help determine the effect of trees on aspects of the environment that are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts impose regulations that affect urban areas, the regulations affect urban development, funding, and mana...

Can you decrease the size of the Eco plots?
Yes. The Eco model can analyze a data set that was collected using smaller or larger plot sizes than 1/10 acre. Results based on that data would have a certain standard error that depends on the number of samples and the variance from plot to plot. The errors below for total tree count have been pro...

What if our city doesn’t have an inventory?
Streets was designed to incorporate an existing street tree database where DBH (diameter at breast height) measurements and species are present for each tree. However, for communities without inventories, a complete or sample inventory can be conducted using the Streets PDA Utility. The Streets manu...

What makes Streets different?
Streets differs from other urban forest analysis software in many ways: • Streets is designed for analyzing street tree populations, not the entire urban forest. • It is intended to be utilized as a planning tool, going beyond the display of benefits accrued. • Local costs are incorporated along wit...
