What do I do before i-Tree Database becomes available?

As of January 2017, the i-Tree Database https://www.itreetools.org/database/ is open for new locations, species, pollution and 1-hour precipitation submissions. Data requirements for i-Tree Database can be found in the International Eco Guide https://www.itreetools.org/resources/manuals/Ecov6_Manual...

Is manual processing still available?

We are no longer accepting new projects for manual processing due to the extensive project backlog and the upcoming implementation of i-Tree Database. See the following forum post for a summary of the new process using the i-Tree Database with i-Tree Eco for international projects https://forums.itr...

When will the system be available?

i-Tree Database is available and operational in a limited capacity as of November 16, 2016. We expect that it will take additional months to refine the system, work through the current international project backlog and integrate in new international locations before they are available for automated ...

How will i-Tree Database work for international projects?

i-Tree Database will validate and accept properly formatted international pollution data, location information, new species information, and other requirements needed for model processing of new international locations outside the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. The submitted information will be vett...

Re: Hydro - TI and Hydro methodology

The recommendation to use Topographic Index files is intended for US states, counties, cities or other US Census places that we have pre-loaded data for. Otherwise, we expect it will be easier for users to work with DEM files than create their own TI files. I'll try to clarify that by updating our H...

Re: Hydro - TI and Hydro methodology

Hi Lars, A good place to start for international i-Tree Hydro users is our FAQ on Hydro's data requirements and international limitations: https://forums.itreetools.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1257 You'll see there that we recommend you use a DEM file for elevation data. For a step-by-step descript...

Re: Rainfall data in itree hydro

We looked into the issue and found that we were able to overcome it by using an alternative weather preprocessor we have. Part of the challenge was that the raw weather file had some missing data and invalid entries which prevented our alternative weather preprocessor from accepting it. The followin...

Re: Rainfall data in itree hydro

I received the raw weather file you sent. I'm noticing similar issues in the conversion of raw weather data to processed weather data. I'll go over this today with the Hydro model development team to get some clarification. So far I've been focusing in on the early section of your weather timeseries...

Re: Rainfall data in itree hydro

Hi Lars, Please send the raw weather file you're using in this project, or at least a snippet of it for the hours in the screenshot. I'll take a look at that input and how the model is processing it to see if we can work a solution out from there. In case you can't attach the file to a reply in this...

International use: date, time, number formatting issues

The date, time, and number settings for some international users ( see a list of countries this applies to here ) differs than the United States format that i-Tree Hydro was designed to accept. For example, in France, decimal points are a comma: Fifty and 3 tenths is 50,3 While in the U.S. and in i-...

Re: Please search

Hi wgrunberg. Thanks for the heads up, we'll explore changing those search settings. For now, you can make that search without being blocked by how common the terms are by adding a wildcard (an asterisk, *) to the end of import. In other words, search for: import* The terms Eco, Streets, and Import ...

Hydro v5.0 evapotranspiration bug

We've identified a bug in which evapotranspiration (ET) does not reset at each timestep. The code is incorrectly accumulating ET from timestep to timestep. Changing this greatly affects the pervious and impervious flow. This is due to the fact that the cumulative infiltration calculation is: cumInfi...

Hydro v5.0 snow routine bugs

Leaks in the code for snow melt, interception, and evaporation routines have been identified. These will be resolved in the next update to i-Tree Hydro version 5. This should change results only by a small amount (5-10mm) for each of these three categories.

Hydro v5.0 subsurface water budget leak

Stepping through subsurface model processes we notice infiltrated water and water held in soil stores at the last timestep of a project simulation do not equal losses from soil (ET) and baseflow. This is mainly an issue with certain extreme parameter sets derived from auto-calibration. In most cases...
