Re: Export "number of tree by stratum" forecast results in csv

Hi Anne-Sophie, I'm not completely clear on which result your are referring but you can save all of the reports in a variety of formats. If you click on the little save disk icon in the upper left corner of any of the reports it should open the window where you put in a file name and navigate to whe...

Re: Time to Update database

The timing is the same (typically 2-3 months) as it requires updates to the same underlying database that incorporates the local pollution data.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Time to Update database

We have improved our process so that database updates no longer require i-Tree Eco software updates to integrate new data. However, it will still typically take 2-3 months and can take as long as six months to integrate new location, precipitation, and/or pollution data into i-Tree Eco. The length o...

Re: Dealing with privet in a non-shrub model

There is lots of flexibility in designing an i-Tree Eco project. Those protocols were designed by the Forest Service to measure the whole urban forest in a city. However, depending on the goals of your project and the resources available, you can adjust the protocols to best fit your needs. If you d...

Re: why 20 many plots pr stratum

Hi Frederik, The recommended sampling sizes are entirely based on the heterogeneity of the population being sampled. The 200 plot recommendation will generally achieve a standard error of about 12% for estimates of the number of trees in a city-wide sample. This is based on the research in this publ...

Re: Change detection capability within iTree Canopy

Hi Bjorn, The Change Detection in i-Tree Canopy is possible in parallel with the historical imagery available in Goggle Earth. There is currently no way to make historical imagery directly available within i-Tree Canopy as Google does not provide that functionality with their API. You can begin your...

Re: Required inputs for calculating leaf surface area

Most of the dbh to crown width models are derived from this publication, https://www.fs.usda.gov/treesearch/pubs/60534. For additional details about the dbh to height to models you can email info@itreetools.org for a spreadsheet of equations by species.

Re: Discrepancy between i-Tree Planting and i-Tree Eco

Thanks for the question. Would you mind sending us both your Planting and Eco projects so we can take a closer look? You can send them to info@itreetools.org. You may have to create a packed Eco project so that it isn't too large to email. You can create a packed project from the file menu in Eco. T...

Re: Required inputs for calculating leaf surface area

Hi Hanyu, I am guessing the original post was referring to i-Tree Eco where users have the option to submit the height and other crown metrics to get the most accurate estimates. MyTree is a greatly simplified tool that allows for ecosystem service estimates based on a minimum set of tree measuremen...

Re: Analysis of shrubs

Hi Davide, If the shrubs are in the i-Tree Eco species list you should be able to get accurate estimates even if they have been heavily pruned. In i-Tree Eco you have the option to collect crown dimensions. You will make sure you turn this option on. In that case you measure things like the height a...

Re: I-Tree V6 Eco Issue with Crown Base Height

Hi, I am not aware of any bugs related to this error message. You should verify that each of your crown base heights are less than each of your tree heights on a per tree basis. That is what this error is indicating. You can not have a tree where the height to the base of the live crown is higher th...

Re: Upload new location and contaminant data. When to get feedback

Your data has been received. For questions about a specific project you can always email us at info@itreetools.org for more information. Our database manager will contact you if there are any issues and will let you know when your location has been integrated into i-Tree Eco.
Thanks,

Re: data collection

Hi Jonathan, You can set up a stratified project and assign your plots to strata ahead of time. It is very important that you accurately enter the area of each strata otherwise any population level extrapolations will be incorrect. The stratification will be taken into account when population level ...

Re: Analysis of shrubs

Hi Iulia, There are two ways to assess shrubs in i-Tree Eco. 1. Perform a plot sample based assessment and turn on the "shrub data" option. This allows you to assess shrubs on the plot based on the species and the size of their crowns. The results for this method will only provide the air pollution ...
