Glad that was helpful. For the second question, though, we will have to wait for the i-Tree Team to respond--though I did look quickly through the Streets species list and did not find bamboo.

Neat question

It seems to me that there are actually two questions here: How are clumps defined and recorded? Do specific values exist in the software for bamboo? The first is the only one I want to address here. I have found the following procedure to work for me in the field: 1) define a clump as more than one ...

easier install method

For anyone who is interested in using QGIS on Windows, I have come across an easier method. This is a netinstall setup, meaning that you must have a working internet connection before you start. Here are the steps: Download the OSGeo4W Installer . Run the installer. Select Express Install, and Next....

Done. Could EAB-VT or another user check that all is OK?

TIA

OK.

I will modify the original following the comments from VT-EAB, so my link in the OP will download the modified spreadsheet in the future.

Well I put it together, as I describe in the first post of this thread, and am glad it was useful to you. I appreciate your looking at it carefully, and making such useful comments. Would the i-Tree Team like to take this over at this point? They are welcome to change it and put it on their own serv...

I'm glad somebody tried it and found it useful! I am no expert and usually klutz around when I run into such problems--I think I tried Ctrl-click to manually exclude/include segments once in a situation like you are decribing, but I don't exactly remember since it has been a while. Support for QGIS ...

(Almost 1,000 views and not a single comment...) I have corrected the outdated download link to direct the user to the right location. If the i-Tree Team ever decided to support this option, the nice thing about open-source software is that the stable packages could be cached on i-Tree servers for e...

Nice question! I have wondered about this a lot myself. I think much depends on what you want/need to get out of the project. In general, as I understand it, there is no particular reason to do 200 plots, especially if 1) the variation from plot to plot of what you are interested in is relatively lo...

Thanks for the response, David. Statistically speaking, on average each segment should cover the same amount of area. I have trouble understanding what you mean by this, since 1) random segments (blocksides) are all different lengths, and 2) segments in i-Tree Streets have no reference to area at al...

Thanks, I have a pretty good grasp of the statistics involved. My point is that "reality rules," and zone lines run right down through the middle of street segments most of the time. And if you don't incorporate this fact into the model (accepting only segments that lie completely within a...

I appreciate the work you guys are doing with bugs, it really makes this a quality software product! ...the i-Tree Streets manual indicates on page 11 that street segments must be unique within the sample This problem is interesting to me because it is not, IMHO, a problem of incompetent users. The ...

i-Tree Streets in Japan

I am sitting in a Tokyo conference room with the members of the Japan Urban Tree Diagnosis Association, and showing them how a user can come to this forum for support with i-Tree. The i-Tree Team will be pleased to know that this is the first time i-Tree has been presented in Japan, so I am told, an...
