Re: Addition of new location data in China

Yes, that is fine as long as you correctly indicate the units in the form. Our modelers may have to convert those units for use in the model but as long as you correctly indicate which you units you used it should be ok.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Combining tree based and plot based data

Hi Jaewon, There is not functionality to do a combined plot-based and complete inventory project. The plot-based projects assume that you are doing a random sample and want your estimates expanded to the whole city or area of interest using statistical estimation. If you are not interested in those ...

Re: i-Tree Eco Forecast Urban Forest Value

Hi Isaac, Unfortunately, there isn't any built in functionality like that. The Forecast model isn't really modeling each individual tree so it is not creating the necessary parameters to input into the replacement value model. If you have some way to project the growth and survival of each individua...

Re: What is the best tablet to use with iTree

Unfortunately, we don't have the funding or capacity to test many different tablets. As long as it has a modern web-browser and an internet connection the process should be pretty much the same and come down to user preferences. Depending on where you are working you might need something more rugged...

Re: Trouble Retrieving Data from Mobile Collector

That approach should work most of the time. You may run into trouble if you edit the data or data collection options in your project before submitting to mobile again. That would create a mismatch between the data Eco on your laptop is expecting and the data you are collecting in the field. For exam...

Re: Application of iTree For Rural Forests

Yes, you are correct on both points. There are limitations in this approach in that assumes that tree crowns don't over lap and the tree crowns are generally oval in shape. However, it is the best that can be done with that data that is collected in an i-Tree Eco complete inventory project. If you a...

Re: Trouble Retrieving Data from Mobile Collector

There are a couple things that could be going on here. 1. You may just need to turn on the editing mode using the button in the top ribbon in Eco on your laptop to make the retrieval button available. 2. If that doesn't work the more challenging issue may be that changes were made to the Eco project...

Re: Application of iTree For Rural Forests

The "Is the study area urban?" check box does not impact the carbon storage or sequestration outputs. It does impact some of the other outputs. For example urban areas are assumed to have more impervious surfaces so the trees in urban areas will be estimated to have a greater impact on inc...

Re: Growth over time of impervious surface area

Hi Ed, If you have an urban forester, planning department, or GIS department in your community you might want to check with them first. If you want to use the i-Tree tools the most accurate way to do that would be using i-Tree Canopy . We have a few videos that walk-through the process on our Video ...

Re: Getting an error back when processing results

At the bottom of the end user agreement there is an "OK" button to click. If you shrink that window down you can get to that button, click okay and the project will be submitted. This happens on my computer when I have the magnification turned up.
Hope that helps,
Jason

Re: Application of iTree For Rural Forests

Hi Esben, Yes, i-Tree Eco can be used to assess rural forests. The tool was designed with urban forest in mind so many of the ecosystem service estimates (e.g. energy use effects, air pollution benefits, and avoided runoff) will be reduced or non-existent in rural areas. There are many long establis...

Hi Isaac, There are some parameter settings that could lead to those results but it is difficult to say without seeing your project. Would you mind creating a packed project from the "File" menu in Eco? Then send the .zip file that is created to our support email address, info@itreetools.o...

Re: Forecasting the effects of planted species

Hi, Forecast doesn't have a built in mechanism to do this. Depending on the type of project you are working with one potential solution would be to import an inventory that includes the species you are interested in their relative proportions. Alternatively, you might want to see if i-Tree Planting ...
