Re: biomass adjustment factor

Hello, The relevant text can be found in this publication, http://www.itreetools.org/eco/resources/08%20UFORE.pdf . Essentially, if the field land use is anything besides "Vacant" or "Wetland" a 0.8 multiplier is applied to reduce biomass estimates. For this reason we recommend using the "Vacant" la...

Re: IPED

Hi Horacio, Unfortunately, any new developments to IPED would require new funding. The development of that module was grant funded and that funding has run out so it is essentially static unless there are new resources to edit the module or add species. As for your translation question I will check ...

Re: Eco v6 pollution removal benefit calculations

Hi Hannah, To fully diagnose the difference we would need your project and the exact calculations you performed. If you would like us to dig into the difference further you can send your packed project to info@itreetools.org along with the reference and exact calculations you were doing. We'll need ...

Re: Energy Benefits in iTree Eco

Hi, The kwh and btu are both included to represent the local mix of home heating choices. You are correct that the model does calculate a single btu necessary to heat any average home but that "combined conversion factor" is then parsed out to kwh and btus based on the average local mix of electric ...

Re: Eco v6 mobile data collection - Entering coordinates

Hi Mollie, Unfortunately, Eco does not currently have a method to collect GPS coordinates for individual trees. This is because Eco was developed as a plot-based sampling tool and the ability to collect individual tree inventory data was added later. We do hope to add this functionality in the futur...

Re: How does Eco calculate tree Structural Value?

Additional land uses have been added to i-Tree Eco to increase completeness and flexibility. The additional land uses and their associated location factors are: multifamily residential 0.6, other 0.5, and utility 0.4.

Re: Tree Cover

The benefit numbers estimated in i-Tree Canopy are based on data from the US and may not be accurate. However, the canopy cover estimates rely on human interpretation of Google satellite imagery. Those are perfectly acceptable and have been used internationally in a wide variety projects. The one li...

Re: Crown dieback & conditions

I think your condition classes sound reasonable. If you want to see the default mapping in i-Tree Eco you can check that out by clicking on the "Project Configuration" tab and selecting "Dieback". The default "Fair" condition ranges from 10-25%, the default poor from 25-50%, and the default dead is ...

Re: Tree Cover

You are correct that only total tree cover is reported. In general we recommend i-Tree Canopy ( https://canopy.itreetools.org/ ) as a more accurate means for finding canopy cover estimates. That being said you can estimate canopy cover by strata by averaging the % tree cover of each plot within each...

Re: Playa Report and other questions

Certain reports are not available for international projects. This is true of the Health Benefits report which is based on the US EPA's BenMap model and is not applicable outside the US. As for the UV report, that report is unavailable when there is inadequate UV data from the weather station used i...

Re: Gross vs Net Carbon Sequestration

Hi Horacio, You are correct that tree species and tree diameters will be a big driver of those differences. The other variables that impact net sequestration are total tree height, crown light exposure (CLE), tree condition, and field land use. The CLE impacts how quickly the trees grow and therefor...

Re: import existing data set into Eco version 6

Hi Drew, Unfortunately, there is not a way to import plot data at this point in time. We do hope to implement this feature in future updates but currently have other development priorities and limited resources to implement new procedures that don't include new science. Thanks for your question. -Ja...

Re: 02 production and UV effect

Hi Horacio, The O2 production should be fine for you to use. That information is generated as a corollary to CO2 sequestration. The UV information relies on data from the weather station you select. If you are using a non-local weather station then it is likely those results will not be appropriate ...

Re: i Tree Eco v6 - Free Adjustment of Costs and Benefit Dat

To you first question. Within a single project the benefit and costs you enter will apply to the whole project. If you want to use different benefits or costs for different trees you will need to set up different projects. To your second question. There are more options for the pollutants if you are...

Re: carbon capture

The i-Tree tools will estimate carbon if you have individual tree measurements. Without individual tree measurements you could use the per acre carbon multipliers already available in i-Tree Canopy or the census block total provide in i-Tree Landscape. However, those multipliers are for average fore...
