Re: is there any way to make the uploaded data private?

Hello, Unfortunately, we do not have the built-in capacity to make submitted precipitation and pollution available for a single user. The system was designed to facilitate the sharing of that type of data among all users to support projects through out the world. To modify the tool for this restrict...

Re: Sample plots relocating and substitution

Hello, You can import or manually add additional plots at any point in time. You can do this through the same procedure you used previously but you will need to make sure the editing mode is set to "On". Alternatively, you can add new plots directly in the "Plots" table under the "Data" tab by setti...

Re: assessment basis

i-Tree Canopy at its core is a random point generator. It does no automatic interpretation of what is pictured under the cross-hair. The interpretation of what is under the cross-hair is entirely up to the user.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Adding current pollution and precipitation data

Hi Chris, The May 3rd update will only impact the online tools: MyTree, Design, Planting, and the API. It will not impact i-Tree Eco. This means that your data will not be integrated on May 3rd. We are working on a process that allows for quicker integration of location, pollution, and precipitation...

Re: Diversity Indices: By Stratum

Hi Juanmi, Unfortunately, the diversity indices can only be estimated for plot-based projects. This is because the diversity indices are density dependent. Complete inventory projects do not always have a defined area or may not measure all trees in the area of interest so there is no way to consist...

Re: What data do I provide to add a new species to the Database?

Hi Juan Miguel, We recommend that users submit new pollution, precipitation, location, and/or species data through i-Tree Databse six months before they wish to retrieve their results in i-Tree Eco. This is due to the time that it takes to integrate this new data into the software. We are currently ...

Re: Forecasting in Eco

Hi Eric, The Forecasting module in i-Tree Eco is really the only option outside the US. In the US, or if you are willing to assume any inaccuracies associated with using a US location as a surrogate, the i-Tree Planting and i-Tree Design tools may be more appropriate. i-Tree Planting was specificall...

Re: What data do I provide to add a new species to the Database?

It is possible to correct the database if there is incorrect data. Please email us directly at info@itreetools.org with the the exact species and data you would like changed and the reason for the change. If you have a large number of species to submit or change we can provide a template spreadsheet...

Re: Submit Polution Database

Hi Juan, The reply of "Confident" is enough for us to proceed with the data integration. If you get that automated email it means that we have received your data. If there are any issues our database manager will contact you directly. If you ever have any concerns or questions about the status of yo...

Re: Using iTree outputs for modelling

Hi James, It is tough to answer this one because it sounds like what you are trying to do is beyond the scope of typical i-Tree use. I am not sure exactly what data you are are trying to use or what relationships you are trying to estimate but in general there is no reason you can't create those sta...

Re: How does ECO extrapolate field plot data to the entire study area?

i-Tree Eco uses plot-based stratified sampling statistics. It does not rely on any remotely sensed data. In essence it calculates the values of interest per unit area from each plot (e.g. trees per acre). It then averages those values to come up with an estimate for each stratum by averaging those p...

Re: Object ID Issue

Hi Lindsey, That ID field has to be controlled by i-Tree Eco because they are linked to the underlying database structure. Likely what is happening is you may have a duplicate ID or the IDs may be out of order which causes a conflict in the database and Eco subsequently renumbers the rest of the rec...

Hi Paul, Our development team is working on creating full methods documentation for the UK and Sweden adaptation. In the meantime I went ahead and posted a preliminary draft of a document summarizing the data sources that facilitated those expansions. You can find that on our website under the "Meth...

Re: Blanks in Datasets iTree Eco

Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, i-Tree Eco cannot handle partial data for some trees in a given inventory. When you turn on any of the recommended variables during project set-up you must provide all of those variables for each of your trees. When you activate only species and dbh the softwa...

Re: Changes in Design Numbers

Hi Karen, Thanks for the question. It is tough to say exactly what is going on here. It could simply be that the differences in the sizes and species of the trees are enough to account those differences in results. It could also be due to changes in the underlying model. We generally try to incorpor...
