i-eco canopy dieback impact on Condition, LAI, and runoff
iTree team. When processing some mock inventories through i-Eco, we're seeing some unexpected results for stormwater runoff values. From this post authored by Al Z. ( https://forums.itreetools.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=993 ) on "How does Eco calculate tree Structural Value?" there is a ...

What part of the tree to start distance and direction Energy
When calculating energy benefits I am recording the distance and direction "from the tree to the nearest part of the building". Should this be the base of the tree or the edge of the canopy? These can be very different numbers. And, for direction, I'm assuming North is 0/360, south 180 etc...

Stratum already exist in land use descriptions error i-Eco
We're trying to set up a stratified random sampling strategy in i-Eco. We have 250 plots distributed across a city, stratified using NLCD and instructions in the "Random Plots Stratification Workbook". Our issue is with the two text files required to stratify the data. The "Eco Strata...

Re: Documentation for Species Value Assignment
Hello, Looking back at my question posted waaaay back in 2008 (has it been that long!?) I'm curious if there have been any serious changes to the way specific species contribute to ecosystem service values provided by trees in the Streets inventory? From the Manual v5.0 annual benefits reported are:...

Water related benefits in i-Eco 5 vs 4
I have i-eco data processed in version 4. I re-processed data in version 5 because of the additional benefits related to interception (supposed to report annual interception by species and land use). The written report produced by version 5 gives no information regarding interception. From the i-Eco...

Management Zone Criteria
Hi, I'm working on a tree inventory at a university in the Midwest, and we're interested in creating "management zones" to monitor diversity, tree health, age, etc. I've been searching the literature and: Are there any good guidelines out there for delineating management zones? Or any docu...

Documentation for Species Value Assignment
Hello,
Can iTree give a reference to the methods for determining the "Species Value Assignments" given for certain species? I'm just looking to back up some of these values with some science.
For example: Carya species use the values of Green Ash for the calculations.
Thanks
RT

No Conifers for "Species Value Assignment": define
So, I'm assigning my unmatched species codes and I understand that the "Species Value Assignment" will dictate the algorythms used to calculate the values of species that are not in the STRATUM database. Why are there no conifers to match with my unmatched conifer trees? Am I missing somet...

Well, although I have a formal education if Forestry, I never did have great training in pathology. My perspective on the most destructive forces for trees that I've seen or heard of (Chestnut blight, dutch elm, emerald ash) have all been at least genus level. Perhaps forest tent catepillars or the ...

Access table for Relating Family to Species?
Has anyone created a table of tree family names that could be related to the species master list?
I'm wanting a family name for each of our inventory trees.
Thanks
Rich
