Ufore does calculate the pollution removal for each month of the year, but there is no mechanism in place to distribute the carbon sequestration by month. The carbon sequestration is calculated on an annual basis. If you would like to distribute the sequestration by month, or season, you could take ...

Error message
The error message could have generated because not all necessary fields were filled-in. What fields did you fill in and what fields did you omit?

The field data procedures are to count them as each a separate tree. This has happened many times in the field data collection. I have had first hand experience with this issue. In Syracuse, there was a black locust that blew over and sprouted close to 40 new individuals in a hedgerow. With many gro...

Distance and Direction
Stormy Jerry is correct. The distance and direction measurement are for quality control and creating a permanent series. With that said, there is no way around these requirements. You will find that if you use either the PDA or the Manual Data Entry program you will need to have these measurements o...

Location Specific Species Constants
Due to the model being used across a wide-spread area, species are classifed by predominant characteristics. For example, if the species is mostly deciduous than that would be its classification, even if in the study domain it might be evergreen.

Hi Paolo, It seems that you are not conducting an initial sample. Is that true? Some of the components of iTree are more suited for using a pre-existing inventories than other components. Stratum is a program that has been adapted for existing inventories. UFORE is more suited for the intial samplin...

Hi Melimel, The plants database is similar to the species codes that we use, but the codes can differ. We have our own species codes. The list is included on the iTree installation disc. How will you be collecting the data? It will make a slight difference in how to enter species that are not on our...

Pollution removal is directly correlated with leaf area, and UFORE will needs to have some proxy to leaf area. If you have the size of the study area and the tree cover, which could be determined by GIS, UFORE could calculate an estimate of pollution removal. If you also have the percent evergreen ...

There are two ways that this issue can be resolved. You will have to decide whether you want to include palm cover as a ground cover or something equal to tree cover. If you want it to be a ground cover (e.g., grass, herbaceous cover) then when you set up the pda application you could add it as an a...

Weather Data
Hi Francesca, I was wondering the same thing about the weather. Are you collecting data on your own weather station or how were you going to get it? I contacted them and they use ISHWO format for the data. I attached a document that explains the columns and units of data needed. It is pretty involve...
